Based on a kabuto worn by a samurai nearly 500 years ago, this piece recreates the original form at one-fifth scale.
In Japan, armor was never simply an instrument of war. Kabuto came to embody protection and strength — treasured as powerful symbols of guardianship and passed down through generations.
Every detail reflects the beauty of traditional Japanese armor-making. Fine silk cords are carefully laced by hand, while the intricate ornamentation preserves the character and dignity of the original kabuto.
This piece features Cha Susogo Odoshi, a subtle gradation of silk lacing that deepens into warm brown toward the lower rows. Its compact scale brings the presence of traditional Japanese armor naturally into a contemporary home.
Designed by Hiroko Hara for Goshiki.
